In a world in which transport plays a significant role in economic activity and the movement of goods and people professional driving skills are increasingly becoming a necessity. You must be able to pass a psychological test as well as an examination for medical reasons to earn an Code 95 Certificate. The student must then go to the Road Traffic Safety Directorate and apply for the renewal of their license. The deadline for renewing the licence is six months from the date of completion of the course. This is to ensure that a driver is equipped with the necessary level of knowledge and competency for driving an automobile that is heavy-duty. Additionally the driver must be able to read kilometer and speed limit signs on the road.
Training options
The code 95 on a driver's license signifies that you have completed the required training to drive trucks or buses professionally. It is a condition that you must fulfill every five years in order to renew your license. The regular training is 35 hours of instruction and can be completed at a driving school or at home (e-learning). The course can be spread over five years. The courses are often covered by your employer.
Code 95 training is divided into two types: the long and short courses. The long course lasts for about four weeks, and it concludes with a government exam. After passing the test you will be issued a plastic card. The card must be submitted to the database of unified European certificates. The institution where you attended your classes will submit the card to the database. It takes 14 days to process the card.
The long course costs approximately 2,000 PLN. The examination is 300 PLN. You will also have to pay a fee to the school to submit your certificate to the unified European database. Once the card has been made and you are able to take it to the school.
As trainers, you must follow a set of protocols to be able give a class that meets Code 95. First, you must submit a training program to the CBR. The plan must be approved by the CBR before classes begin. You must also follow other strict procedures throughout the course of training.
You will receive an official certificate from the CBR when you have completed the course successfully. You can then send this to the RDW. You can then renew your license with the municipality once you have submitted it successfully. If you do not renew your license before the expiry date you won't be allowed to drive professionally more than 12 hours a week. You'll need to complete another course of instruction if you would like to drive for more than 12 hours a week again.
Exams
You must pass both the theory and practical tests to get the code 95 on your license. These exams can be taken separately, or as part of the acquisition of a basic category licence at a driving school. After passing the exam, you will be awarded a certificate as well with a code 95 card. The card is valid for 5 years and has to be renewed prior to the expiration date.
Depending on the course of study, you can take short or long courses to prepare for the code 95 exam. The long course lasts for about four weeks, and it concludes with a governmental test. In this exam you will have to answer 30 questions regarding the topics covered in your classes.
You must complete a minimum of 35 hours of regular training every five years following passing the code 95 examination. This can be done in the country you reside in or work. The periodic training is done by an instructor. The CBR has an online tool that allows you to locate an instructor. You will receive a confirmation from both your teacher and CBR once you have completed the course. The CBR will notify the RDW of your successful completion.

To operate a truck, you must possess a driver's licence C. This is the largest driver's license in Europe. In the Netherlands, the requirement is that you pass the initial qualification for professional drivers at the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen, or CBR, in Dutch). You must also have a medical examination.
For buses and passenger vehicles, you must also hold a driving license C or D. Bus drivers must pass a written and oral test. In addition, they must be able to show a code 85 which is a certificate proving their professionalism.
Requirements
The purchase of a driving license with code 95 is a must for truck drivers who want to work in the Netherlands. This mark on a driver's licence proves that they have met the (training) requirements for professional truck drivers (Certificate of Professional Competence, Verklaring van Vakbekwaamheid). Without it, truck drivers are not allowed to drive professionally for more than 12 hours a week.

If you want to transport dangerous items, you will need to take a separate ADR driver training course (18-hours). This will give you a five year ADR driver's certificate. All professional drivers of vehicles that transport dangerous goods must take this course.
The new style of licences for trucks and busses was introduced in the year 2011. The licence is laminated similar to the European driving licence, with the bearer's photograph, name (in Latin and Cyrillic scripts) as well as the date/place of issue, allowed categories, and signature. The older booklet-style and credit-card licences are no longer valid.
